Why does this page list only three providers?

Many plastic surgery clinics in Singapore are in Novena and Orchard rather than in heartland towns. We only list providers whose location and services we confirmed on their own pages or a hospital’s pages. Near Tampines, three passed that check.

We also came across clinics that turned out to be something else: aesthetic GP practices, dermatology and skin cancer surgery clinics, and general surgery groups. They have their own uses, but they are not plastic surgery clinics, so they are not on this page.

A children’s clinic group gives a Tampines contact on its paediatric plastic surgery page. We could not confirm that a plastic surgeon sees patients at that branch, so it is not listed.

If you are willing to travel, you will find many more plastic surgery practices in the central medical hubs. They are outside the scope of a Tampines guide. We will update this page as we confirm more providers in the east, and the date shown on this page tells you when the listings were last checked.

How do the three providers compare?

Changi General Hospital is the closest option and is a public hospital department with a published list of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. The other two are private specialist practices at Parkway East Medical Centre in Joo Chiat, roughly 7 km from Tampines. The table sets out the verified facts.

According to his clinic’s site, Dr Matthew Yeo is also a visiting consultant at Changi General Hospital, so two of the listings overlap a little. Dr Lee Hanjing’s own website lists only a clinic at Mount Alvernia Medical Centre on Thomson Road, while Parkway East Medical Centre’s profile lists her in Joo Chiat. Call to confirm where she is consulting before you book.

Should I choose a public hospital or a private clinic?

It depends on what matters to you: how fees are structured, your choice of surgeon, waiting times, and whether the procedure is cosmetic or reconstructive. Ask each provider the same questions about fees, who operates, where the surgery happens and what follow-up is included, then compare the answers.

Changi General Hospital’s department page lists cosmetic procedures such as eyelid surgery, facelift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck and liposuction. The service’s director also heads the hospital’s Lymphoedema Service. At Parkway East, Dr Matthew Yeo lists facial rejuvenation and breast and body contouring as his main interests. Dr Lee Hanjing treats adults and children, and her services include breast reconstruction and cleft lip and palate surgery.

None of the three published prices on the pages we checked, so treat all of them as price on enquiry. Ask for a written quote that separates the surgeon’s fee, the anaesthetist’s fee, facility charges and any implants, and check whether GST is included.

How do I check that a surgeon is a registered plastic surgeon?

Search the doctor’s name on the Singapore Medical Council’s public register of doctors. A registered plastic surgeon should show specialist registration in Plastic Surgery. Clinic websites list qualifications too, but the register is the official record.

The qualifications on this page come from the providers’ own pages and a hospital profile. Dr Jeremy Sun Mingfa lists FAMS(Plast), Dr Matthew Yeo lists FAMS (Plastic Surgery) and Dr Lee Hanjing lists FAMS (Plastic Surgery). Dr Yeo’s clinic also states that he has been an MOH-accredited plastic surgeon since 2012. We have not cross-checked these doctors on the SMC register for this page, so please do that yourself before booking.

Be careful with the word “aesthetic” on its own. A doctor who offers aesthetic treatments is not necessarily a registered plastic surgeon. Some aesthetic clinics are run by general practitioners rather than plastic surgeons.

Can I use MediSave or insurance for plastic surgery?

Usually not for purely cosmetic surgery. One Singapore plastic surgery practice explains that a cosmetic tummy tuck is generally not on the Table of Surgical Procedures (TOSP), so it cannot be claimed through MediSave or insurance. Reconstructive procedures may be treated differently, so ask.

What decides it is whether your procedure has a TOSP code and meets the conditions attached to it. Ask the clinic for the code and the expected claimable amount in writing, then confirm with your insurer before you commit. Do not assume a procedure can be claimed just because it is done in a hospital.

What should I ask at a first consultation?

Ask who will operate, where the surgery will take place, what the full cost covers, what recovery involves and how follow-up works. Write your questions down beforehand and take notes, or bring someone with you to the appointment.

  • Is the surgeon on the SMC register with specialist registration in Plastic Surgery?
  • Which hospital or day surgery centre will the operation be in, and who is the anaesthetist?
  • What does the quote include, and is GST included?
  • What are the common risks and complications of this procedure?
  • How many follow-up visits are included, and who do I call after hours?
  • How much time off work should I plan for?

A responsible surgeon will talk openly about risks and limitations and will not promise a particular result. If you feel rushed into booking, take time to think it over or get a second opinion.

What did we not verify for this page?

We have not yet verified the nearest MRT stations, walking times or prices for any of the three providers, or opening hours at Changi General Hospital and the two Parkway East clinics. We also have not confirmed whether Changi General Hospital needs a referral for plastic surgery. Call ahead before you travel.

We list these gaps so you know exactly what to check. Changi General Hospital’s department page gives the clinic location as the Medical Centre, Level 3, Clinic 3C. Both private clinics are at 319 Joo Chiat Place, on levels 3 and 4, and their phone numbers are shown in the listings. We will add travel details and hours once we have confirmed them on official pages.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a plastic surgeon in Tampines?

The nearest verified service is the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department at Changi General Hospital in Simei, in or next to Tampines. We did not find a standalone private plastic surgery clinic in Tampines that we could verify.

Where are the nearest private plastic surgery clinics to Tampines?

Of the clinics we verified, the nearest are at Parkway East Medical Centre, 319 Joo Chiat Place, roughly 7 km from Tampines: Picasso Plastic Surgery (#04-07) and The Surgical Specialists Clinic (#03-07), where Dr Lee Hanjing is listed.

Can I claim MediSave for cosmetic surgery?

Generally not. A cosmetic tummy tuck, for example, is generally not on the Table of Surgical Procedures, so it cannot be claimed through MediSave or insurance. Ask the clinic whether your procedure has a TOSP code.

How do I check a plastic surgeon’s qualifications?

Search the Singapore Medical Council’s public register of doctors and look for specialist registration in Plastic Surgery. The qualifications on this page come from the providers’ own websites and a hospital profile, and should be checked against the register.

Do I need a referral to see Changi General Hospital’s plastic surgery team?

We did not confirm the referral rules for this page. Call Changi General Hospital, or ask your GP or polyclinic, before you try to book an appointment.
