Can I get subsidised health screening in Bishan?
Yes, if you are eligible. Singapore citizens can have recommended screenings at low or no cost through Screen for Life, and people enrolled in Healthier SG can have nationally recommended screenings at their enrolled clinic. Raffles Medical Bishan lists both schemes.
Screen for Life is the national screening programme. It covers screening for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and for cancers such as cervical, breast and colorectal cancer, depending on your age and sex. HealthHub explains who qualifies and what each test costs under the scheme.
Healthier SG asks residents to enrol with one family doctor, who then plans regular screening with them. If you want subsidised screening at a GP near Bishan, check that the clinic takes part in the scheme before you book. Raffles Medical Bishan also lists CHAS, which gives subsidies at GP clinics for eligible Singapore citizens.
Can I use MediSave for health screening in Bishan?
For some tests, yes. MediSave can be used for certain approved screenings at participating clinics, but not for every item in a package. Raffles Medical Bishan lists MediSave among the schemes it accepts, so ask the clinic which tests qualify.
When you ask for a quote, request a breakdown showing which items can be paid with MediSave, which are covered by a subsidy, and which you pay in cash. If your employer provides a corporate insurance card, HMI OneCare Clinic Bishan says it accepts these cards, so check what your plan covers.
How often should women get cervical and breast screening?
National guidance on HealthHub suggests a Pap test every three years for women aged 25 to 29 who have ever had sex, then an HPV test every five years from age 30. Regular mammograms are advised from age 50, and women aged 40 to 49 can discuss them with a doctor.
SCS Clinic @ Bishan announced in a 17 September 2026 update that it now offers mammograms from age 40. It also offers HPV self-sampling, where you collect your own sample, as well as clinician-taken Pap and HPV tests. Your doctor can advise a different schedule if you have symptoms or a family history.
Where can I get a work permit or helper medical exam in Bishan?
HMI OneCare Clinic Bishan lists work pass medical examinations among its services. Work permit holders, including migrant domestic workers, need to pass a medical exam set by the Ministry of Manpower, so bring the worker’s documents and the MOM form when you visit.
Call ahead to confirm the clinic’s hours for medical exams, how long results take, and whether the clinic submits results to MOM for you.
How do I choose a health screening clinic in Bishan?
Start with what you need screened, then check that the clinic offers those tests, takes part in any subsidy scheme you qualify for, and explains results with a doctor. Location and opening hours matter if you need to fast before a blood test.
- Match the clinic to the test: women’s cancer screening, a general package, or a work pass medical exam.
- Ask whether the clinic takes part in Screen for Life, Healthier SG or CHAS if you are a Singapore citizen.
- Ask which items can be paid with MediSave or your corporate insurance card.
- Ask for the full package price, whether GST is included, and whether a results consultation is part of it.
- Check fasting instructions and opening hours, especially for early-morning blood tests.
- Confirm that the doctor seeing you is registered with the Singapore Medical Council.
How was this list put together?
