How do you get to the Novena medical cluster?
Novena MRT (NS20) is on the North-South Line at 250 Thomson Road. It serves Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and United Square. Thomson Medical Centre is further north along Thomson Road, so allow extra time or take a short bus ride.
The station opened in December 1987 and is named after the nearby Novena Church. Irrawaddy Road is home to both Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre at 38 Irrawaddy Road and Royal Square Medical Centre at 101 Irrawaddy Road. If you are pregnant or unwell, a taxi drop-off at the building entrance saves walking in the heat. Many obstetricians deliver at more than one hospital, so ask where your doctor delivers before you choose.

How should you choose a gynaecologist?
Check the doctor is on the Singapore Medical Council register as an O&G specialist, ask which hospitals they deliver or operate at, and ask about fees and MediSave or insurance claims before your first visit. Think about whether you prefer a female doctor and how easy the clinic is to reach.
For pregnancy care, ask what the antenatal package covers, which scans are included and who covers when your doctor is away. For conditions such as fibroids or endometriosis, ask whether keyhole surgery is offered and where. Private specialists generally see patients without a referral, but some insurance plans require a GP letter, so check with your insurer first.
